Born in England and raised in South
Africa. John trained and worked as a
herpetologist – a reptile biologist – in
Germany and South Africa. For several
years he performed venom extractions for
medical industry and pharmaceutical research
and gave educational lectures. After a
couple of venomous snakebites, he decided
to change his career path to something
John entered the early personal computer
industry eventually moving on to working
with enterprise networking equipment, fire
walls and IT security systems. John was
at Lotus Development (IBM software) (92-94)
and a director for Symantec Corp (96–99 & 01–04).
He has worked with numerous early stage
and start-up technology companies at a
strategic level and crafted business alliances
with leading technology companies such
as Microsoft, IBM, Cisco, Oracle, Hewlett
Packard and others.
